Zuhair Murad - Paris based designer Zuhair Murad has some risky yet feminine silhouettes for the SS 2018 collection. Sheer skirts and tops with embellished detail feature a lot on these dresses, sheer but covered is a look being seen a lot for this year and next. There is always an element of being covered too with long sheer arms and open skirts. He has full skirts and fitted body con styles, sweetheart necklines and draping fabrics. The designer is known for exquisite gowns combining time-honored artisanal techniques with a modern take on femininity.
Marchesa - This is the ultimate feminine designer for bridal in my opinion. For the wow dress this is definitely a designer you want to look at.
Marchesa designs elegant, beautifully made pieces with a twist. SS18 is no different, the dresses feature ruffles, frills, tassels, floral embellishment, bows, sweetheart necklines, asymmetric hems, off the shoulder necklines, deep V necks, sheer bustiers and black piping. The black piping with the white gowns are a big contrast and unlike bridal styles that we have seen before. Floral detail is being used again with an edge of sheer silk tulle. Marchesa likes detail, 1920's style tassels are being used in with the flapper shape, lace with frills and high leg splits. Only one short style being used in media so far in this collection, short styles are great for a city wedding.
Vera Wang - There are a lot of more structured silhouettes from Vera Wang for next year. We are seeing asymmetric ruching on structure, lace detail, plunging necklines and high round necks, one sleeved gowns, asymmetric necklines and hemlines, tulle sheer panels, a lot of black featured in these gowns again giving a hard look to a soft feminine gown. there are puff ball sleeves in this collection representing the Disney princess look they remind me of Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Vintage empire line silk gowns are also entering this collection.
Viktor Rolf - This designer is focusing on the skirt, a lot of full princess skirts in this collection. structured and softer style gowns which is great for fitting different body shapes. Floral embellishment is making a key focus on the bustier top of the gown and on the skirt. Cut out detail, huge ruffles and huge skirt embellishments. I was really drawn to this collection, the skirts are simply stunning and if you are having a big wedding or in an exotic location these dresses are for you.
